WISD Dyslexia Program

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The WISD Dyslexia team uses a multisensory structured language program called Take Flight for our curriculum.  It involves using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic pathways to the brain in order to enhance memory and develop learning. The lessons are systematic and build upon concepts and skills previously learned.  These concepts are reviewed until they achieve automaticity.  Take Flight is language-based and comprised of phonology and phonological awareness (manipulating sounds in words and words in sentences), sound-symbol association (decoding, encoding), syllable instruction morphology (base words, roots, affixes), syntax (mechanics of the language), and semantics (comprehension of written language).  There are also components of fluency and comprehension within the content.

The therapists in Weatherford ISD are excited to work with you!  We look forward to a successful year!  If ever you have questions during the year, please do not hesitate to contact us.
