Meet Mrs. Widler

Hello!

My name is Mrs. Widler, and I am excited to be one of the Dyslexia Therapists at Crockett Elementary School! I look forward to another wonderful school year and to getting to know our students and families.

I began my teaching career in 1992 and have taught a variety of grade levels and subjects, including agriculture, kindergarten, second grade, third grade, sixth grade, and high school Algebra. I have taught in Nevada, California, and Oklahoma and have also had the opportunity to support educators through AVID.

I joined Weatherford ISD in 2012, beginning my WISD journey right here at Crockett Elementary, where I taught second and third grade. In 2018, I began working as a dyslexia therapist, and I have been honored to support students with dyslexia ever since. I served as the Dyslexia Therapist at Tison Middle School for five years, and this year marks my fourth year as a Dyslexia Therapist at Crockett Elementary. I will also continue supporting our 9th–12th grade dyslexia students at Weatherford High School.

Dyslexia is especially meaningful to me because I am dyslexic myself. I struggled in school and did not discover that I was dyslexic until college. My personal experience has given me a unique understanding of the challenges students with dyslexia may face and has strengthened my passion for helping students recognize their strengths, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to become successful readers and learners.

I am a Certified Academic Language Therapist–Qualified Instructor (CALT-QI) and have the opportunity to train and support future dyslexia therapists through professional training.

I was born and raised near Santa Barbara, California, and graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Although I have lived in several states and traveled to Australia twice, I am happy to say that Weatherford, Texas, is my favorite place to call home!

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and our animals—including our horses, cows, and dogs.

I am grateful to be part of the Weatherford ISD family and look forward to partnering with our students, families, and teachers this year. Together, we can help every student recognize their strengths, build confidence, and reach their full potential.
