Healthy Kids is administered by the Weatherford ISD Child Nutrition department in partnership with All Saints’ Anglican Church, First United Methodist Church, Grace First Presbyterian Church, North Side Baptist Church, and Westwood Christian Fellowship. Julie Enlow serves as the WISD volunteer coordinator for the program. Volunteers for Healthy Kids pick up the meals from Ikard Elementary and deliver them to the feeding sites. Volunteers may also sponsor fun activities, including reading programs.
Over the course of the summer, children will enjoy a variety of hot baked entrées – including taco sticks, pizza, and sandwiches – along with fruits and vegetables. Funded through a Texas Department of Agriculture program, the meals are prepared by the school district and meet all federal and state nutrition guidelines.
Participating locations are First United Methodist Church, Ikard Elementary, Seguin Elementary, Tison Middle School, Travis Campus, Wright Elementary, and Western Lake Estates. Meals will be served at noon at all locations except First United Methodist Church where lunch will be served at 12:30.
A complete list of locations and times is available on the Weatherford ISD Child Nutrition website.
